Punters have launched an Oaks plunge on race favourite Kirramosa with two $50,000 bets placed on the filly in the space of an hour at Sportingbet this morning.

Kirramosa shot to Oaks favouritism with a dominant win in the Wakeful Stakes on Derby day and has continued to be well backed by punters.

“There were no Melbourne Cup Day hangovers for these punters, we were hit early and hit hard taking a $50,000 bet on Kirramosa at $3.50 and then another soon after at $3.30,” Sportingbet’s Michael Felgate said.

“The money for Kirramosa has been huge this morning, if it continues she will start a short priced favourite tomorrow.”

A $9 chance before her win in the Wakeful, Kirramosa is now a clear $3 favourite for the Oaks at Sportingbet ahead of Zanbagh who has drifted to $4.80 and May’s Dream at $5.

If Kirramosa gets the cash it will continue a good Cup week for punters in the feature races with well backed Polanski winning the Derby and Fiorente heavily backed to win yesterday’s Melbourne Cup.

“It’s no surprise the big money has come for Kirramosa, she easily beat most of her opposition last week and the extra distance shouldn’t be a problem. She is the only one punters want.” Felgate said
