Guelph led from start to finish and as a result has firmed from $9 into $6 for the Crown Oaks, and shortened into $11 from $17 for the Cox Plate but with her future this campaign uncertain, May’s Dream has leapt into favouritism.

The Darren Weir-trained filly shortened from $8 into $4.40 with Betstar after finishing second in the Thousand Guineas.

“May’s Dream did well to get so close to Guelph and is the obvious choice for the Oaks if she continues along that path,” Betstar’s Alan Eskander said.

“As a result she has been wound in from $8 into $4.40 and is now outright favourite for the Crown Oaks. Her mum, She’s Archie, ran a place in the Melbourne Cup, so one would presume she will have no problem running out the distance.”

“In regards to Guelph, it will be a waiting game to hear from the stable and whether she decides to press on this campaign or head to the paddock. She has shortened from $9 into $6 in the Oaks, while in the Cox Plate she has firmed into $11 from $17.”

“If she were to run in the Cox Plate, she would definitely be the x-factor, and today she proved she can lead and win. It would be great to see her do that in a Cox Plate with no weight, and Guelph would definitely prove popular with the punters if she did go that way.”
