Crowds allowed back at Caulfield races

Having been locked out of attending the races because of COVID, Caulfield has been given the green light to welcome a crowd back.

The Melbourne Racing Club is throwing open the gates at Caulfield on Saturday to welcome a crowd back at the races.

Owners, members and the punting public have been locked out of attending the races since late last month after the latest Victorian COVID lockdown.

With restrictions eased on Thursday night, the State Government has granted the MRC up to 5000 patrons on course, with a cap of 300 per space.

The MRC confirmed there would be no need for racegoers to pre-register, with patrons set to use the QR code system at the gate to scan in.

Entry is free and is open to all, including members, members guests, owners and the general public.

There will be no seated dining, however the club’s retail venues will be open for the sale of food and drink.

The news has been welcomed by race starved for Victorian owners in particular who will get the opportunity to be back on course to watch their horse’s race.
