Saturday’s premier Victorian meeting will be run at Flemington racecourse which boasts a bumper ten race meeting including the feature race of the day the Creswick Stakes.

The current track condition is a Dead 5 although Melbourne is expected to receive some showers today and Saturday morning although fingers crossed this wont be enough to cause a downgrade in the track and we should be racing on a Dead 5 come race time.

Race One: Murray Cox Hcp 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Lady Lakshmi came through two very good 2yo form races early in the season were she finished mid field on both occasions. Has been given more time to mature and showed that winning well at Sandown last start. This is definitely a winnable race for her and she should be in the finish.
Don’t Back Me: Corporate Takeover’s win last start was good although it was a very moderate field. Looks to be under the odds against some decent horses here.
Big Danger: Gracious Prospect is yet to win a race from ten starts but this looks a much more winnable race than what he has been competing against.
Roughie: Katespur hit the line strongly on debut and drops weight from that race. Looks to be a good quality filly in the making and could step up here.

Race Two: Birthday Hcp (78) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Maglissa had no luck last start but finished off the race well when clear. Has drawn wide but will go back and will be hitting the line hard late and there looks to be more speed in this race than she has found recently. Take the $17 on offer at Sportsbet now.
Don’t Back Me: Coins ran a decent race at Morphettville last start although she will be carrying 59.5kg here which is a massive task and at $3.80 in betting looks unders.
Big Danger: Our Celladoor was a little disappointing last start but had a few things go wrong for her. She has drawn poorly again although if she finds a bit of luck in running she will be hard to beat.
Roughie: Mareeza didn’t handle the Sydney way of going last start so im putting a line through that run. Before that she had no luck at her first two starts this preparation and she is a much better horse than she has shown. Should be able to bounce back here.

Race Three: Banjo Paterson Series Heat 2500m Form Guide

Back Me: Cooldini looks super hard to beat here. He is weighted very well and has drawn a barrier which will allow him to have the run of the race. Won by 12L on a heavy last start but i don’t think he is just a wet tracker.
Don’t Back Me: Shiny Buttons was very gallant in winning last start although he goes up in the weights here and im not sure that is the best form line heading into this race.
Big Danger: Black And Bent is as honest as they come and has a great record over this distance. Always puts in a good run and we know he will stay.
Roughie: Monkey Briscoe finished the race off well at Caulfield last start and the extra distance from that race will suit. On that run you could see him winning here at good odds.

Race Four: A.r. Creswick Stakes 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Spending didn’t race as well as i thought she would last start but she had a few excuses. Finds She Can Skate better at the weights here and there looks to be more speed which will suit her running pattern.
Don’t Back Me: So Wotif was well beaten by a couple of the runners in this race after being posted wide. Drawn wide again and that is likely the case here as well.
Big Danger: She Can Skate won super impressively last start and she should be able to match that performance here and looks the horse to beat.
Roughie: Edgewood went back to last in a slowly run race last start and he was given no chance of winning. Should get a better tempo in this race which will suit and he will be the horse finishing late.

Race Five: Leilani Series Heat 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Ominous Quality has been contesting some very good races and drops back in class here against a very winnable race for her. Has won all of her races in Victoria and i expect her to have too much class.
Don’t Back Me: Dayita made a mess of the start last time out which is a big concern. Will have to carry 57kg and is jumping from barrier 12. Willing to risk her.
Big Danger: Spot On Maggie was left a bit flat footer last start and should be better from that run, looks great value and i see her as the biggest danger in the race.
Roughie: Rememba Howe has a very good second up record which she is on Saturday, ran a decent race last time out and will improve. The $34 looks good value.

Race Six: Rod Johnson Hcp (78) 2000m Form Guide

Back Me: Here To There took good ground off Rythem To Spare who looks a decent chance in the Queensland Derby two starts ago. A lot went wrong for him at Sandown last start but wasn’t beaten far. Drawn well and gets in the weights well. Looks hard to beat at $7.50.
Don’t Back Me: Backstedt has been around the mark in his runs although im not sure he stays the 2000m which some of the others will. Take on trust.
Big Danger: Whitten’s Delight has been racing in great form lately and his past couple of runs have said she will be winning soon and looks a big chance in this race.
Roughie: Gold Medals didn’t have much luck last start in much tougher company, two starts ago again he was unlucky and should have finished closer. Has the big weight and a wide barrier but he certainly has the class to beat this field.

Race Seven: All Victorian Sprint Heat 1000m Form Guide

Back Me: Broken flies fresh and has a very good record over the track and distance. Has drawn in the middle of the field and will have a perfect position in the race. As long as he can jump well Saturday he will go very close.
Don’t Back Me: Serene Star will be winding up late although the drop in distance is a concern for me here against a very good field.
Big Danger: Rifleman loves the 1000m dash and gets in well in the weights especially with the claim of Chad Schofield. Hit the line well last start and looked like he would be winning soon.
Roughie: Bloomingdale Miss gets a super light weight in the race and she loves the distance. Has done it tough her last few races and with a good barrier she should have a better run and be hard to hold out with no weight on her back.

Race Eight: Troa/luxbet C’ship Series Heat 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: By The Way went back to last in what was a sit and sprint sprint race last start and is likely to do the same here. Looks to be more speed in this race which will suit him perfectly and he will be hard to hold out late.
Don’t Back Me: That’s The One has had his chance at his past two starts and wasn’t able to win. I’d think that will be the same on Saturday.
Big Danger: Goldslick probably isn’t suited over the distance but is a very classy horse on her day and class can carry horses a long way. She looks a big danger in the race.
Roughie: Testascana races well second up which he is here and the increase in distance will suit. Wasn’t given a shot with a slowly run race last start and i expect him to be much better on Saturday at $31 in betting.

Back Me: Bello goes into the race with excellent form which has been franked since. Will have to carry 60kg but i think he has the class to do so and looks a very good chance against this field. The $4.40 still available wont last long.
Don’t Back Me: Pago Rock has been well backed to win which has taken any value out of his quote. Has had three starts at Flemington without winning and finds a good field on Saturday.
Big Danger: Club Command raced well last start and will take a forward position in the race and make his own luck. Definitely has the form and class to win this race.
Roughie: Magnifique Soleil races well fresh and loves the distance. Will get a good run from barrier 6 and at $19 looks great value.

Back Me: Notice Received won well last start with a big weight, drops 4kg in this race and has drawn perfectly. She will be able to take a sit on them and be hard to hold out at double figure odds.
Don’t Back Me: Gail always runs on well late in her races although she rarely wins, im willing to risk her on Saturday from a tough barrier.
Big Danger: Fulgur finally won after a run of placings and showed that he is capable of making it back to back wins.
Roughie: Upbeat is a classy galloper on his day. Currently at big odds in the race and should be a horse you add to your multiples and quaddies as he can put in a big run here.

Next Best: By The Way hit the line really well in a race he shouldn’t have finished as close as he did. A better tempo on Saturday will suit and he should be running over the top of them.
