New Zealand galloper ‘Ocean Park’ has won today’s feature race the 2012 Cox Plate.
Ridden by Glen Boss Ocean Park was given every chance when settled mid field before peeling out from behind the early leaders Ethiopia and Proisir and sprinted too quickly for the very gallant 3YO All Too Hard.
Ocean Park has continued his winning streak this preparation in Australia with his best performance yet when taking out today’s Group 1 Cox Plate worth $3 million dollars in prize money.
Ocean Park started his Spring campaign with a first up win in a Group 1 in New Zealand before returning to Australia after an unsuccessful Autumn campaign with a win in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes before making it back to back Group 1 wins in the Caulfield Stakes.
Ocean Park opened at $6 for the Cox Plate when markets went up after the barrier draw on Tuesday and was steady in the market throughout.
