Christmas Cup 2015: Promising Queensland stayer out of Field

Promising Queensland stayer Chillin With Dylan has gone amiss and will be scratched from the Christmas Cup at Randwick.

Trainer Ben Ahrens said the four-year-old, a winner of three races in five runs since resuming from a spell, had suffered a tendon injury.

“It’s not great, but hopefully it will heal with time,” Ahrens said.

“Normally with these types of things you’d be looking at six months or so but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Ahrens first came to prominence with Spechenka, a stayer which finished fifth in the 2010 Christmas Cup before going on to win the Summer Cup at Randwick at his next start.

Chillin With Dylan managed a Group Three placing in the Gunsynd Classic last season and ran respectable races in the Rough Habit Plate and Grand Prix Stakes to earn a Queensland Derby start.

As one of only two last-start winners to accept for the Christmas Cup, Chillin With Dylan was expected to be one of the favourites.
