Race 1 – Benchmark 100 Handicap (1000m)
Dexelation is yet to win from three starts so far this prep but he won all three of his starts during his last campaign.
He has been placed in 29 of 46 career race starts and has three wins from four attempts over the short course of 1000m.
Alana Kelly will give some weight relief from the inside barrier.
Race 2 – 2YO Handicap (1200m)
Magnaspin was well beaten by the very promising Doull at Flemington on debut and looks the obvious choice on exposed form.
I’ll be sitting this one out though.
Race 3 – 3YO Handicap (1600m)
Blazero has just the one win from eight career starts but the son of Pieroo has been placed in five of those.
He was beaten less than half a length at Flemington when resuming from a spell and the step up in distance to 1600m will suit.
Race 4 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m)
hentic Jewel finished her last campaign with a narrow defeat in the Listed Gosford Guineas proving she is a filly with plenty of ability.
She finished third at Hawkesbury on a heavy track when resuming this prep and was no match for them in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes at Scone.
Dropping back in grade will suit and she gets some weight relief with the apprentice on top.
Race 5 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m)
This looks a really nice race for five year old mare Galgani to begin her prep in.
She impressed when winning at The Valley over 1200m during her last prep and was far from disgraced when she closed the campaign with a sixth placed finish in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes.
Tis is short of her ideal distance but with even luck from an awkward draw, she will give punters a sight.
Race 6 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m)
The Scott Brunton trained Galenus put together back to back wins in Tasmania as well as a narrow second in open company before heading to the mainland last start.
He finished third in a very tight finish behind Blaze A Trail at this track and distance in that event and this does not look much tougher.
Drawn well and the apprentice again claims to give some weight relief.
Race 7 – Benchmark 100 Handicap (2000m)
Grandslam was a dominant winner by five lengths at this track and distance two starts back when leading all the way.
He carries a kilo less in this race as he did in that event and there is no reason to suggest he won’t be winning again.
Linda Meech replaces Jamie Kah and she will steer from barrier eight.
Race 8 – Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m)
The Williams owned Hosier is a classy individual as seen when winning at Sandown first up over 1600m.
The son of Camelot has now won five of his eight career race starts including two of four second up.
Alana Kelly pilots once again and he gets in really well at the weights.
He’s the one to beat.
Race 9 – Benchmark 84 Handicap (1400m)
Agreeable has been competitive in black type company in the past and finished just over two lengths from the winner in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes at this track during last year’s spring carnival.
She was impressive when scoring first up at Sandown and usually improves into her second up run.
The step up in distance suits and with a bit of luck from the awkward draw, she will be right in this contest.
