Pre-race favourite Glencadam Gold has drawn a wide barrier for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup as have the past two Melbourne Cup winners Dunaden and Americain.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Glencadam Gold drew gate 21 but will come in to 17 if none of the four emergencies gain a start in the 18-horse race.
Americain, winner of the 2010 Melbourne Cup, came up with barrier 19 while his French compatriot Dunaden has 22.
South Australian Derby winner Zabeelionaire has drawn barrier one while last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed has 14.
December Draw, last year’s favourite who was injured during the race, drew barrier 12.
