Le Romain has beaten Chautauqua in a dramatic finish to win the $500,000 Group 1 Canterbury Stakes at a wet Randwick.
The Kris Lees-trained four-year-old gelding was taken to the outside by Glyn Schofield before edging out Chautauqua in a photo finish.
The John O’Shea trained Hauraki finished third.
Le Romain jumped as the $4.60 second favourite at CrownBet behind Chautauqua and the pair fought out the finish with Le Romain scoring the win on a photo decision.
