Bowman leaves Japan on a Group Two high

Premier Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman has ended his Japanese sojourn with a Group Two win at Nakayama.

Bowman rode Hartley to win the Hopeful Stakes (2000m) after a hiccup earlier in the day.

Japanese stewards investigated tweets on his account but were satisfied he was not the one who sent them.

Jockeys in Japan are in lockdown leading up to race meetings and are not allowed access to their phones.

Bowman will now join his family for a holiday in Europe and returns to Sydney in mid-January.
