News:

Veteran stayer Brave Ali has retired from racing and will be re-educated for an equestrian career.

The Tony Gollan-trained 10-year-old won two Listed races – the 2014 Ipswich Cup and Tails Stakes.

Brave Ali started his career in New Zealand where he was trained by Lance Noble before being switched to Craig Martin’s Tamworth stable.

He reached his peak while with Gollan and was placed in the Group Three Chairman’s Handicap.

The gelding had 52 starts for 12 wins and 14 placings, earning more than $425,000.

He finished seventh of 10 runners in a 2000m open handicap at Doomben at his final start on August 27.

“Brave Ali has retired as a sound, happy 10yo. He earned over 400k. Back to Armidale to be re-educated for pony club,” Gollan tweeted on Monday.
