Bob Hoysted Stakes 2014: Bigger Miracles Of Life ready for autumn

Things didn’t go to plan for Miracles Of Life in the spring and trainer Daniel Clarken is hoping a better result awaits the filly in her only scheduled appearance in Melbourne this autumn.

Last year’s Blue Diamond winner resumes in Saturday’s Listed Bob Hoysted Stakes (1000m) at Flemington to begin a campaign aimed at the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes at home in Adelaide.

While the three-year-old is not fully wound up for Saturday’s assignment against older horses, her trainer says she has strengthened up considerably and has class on her side.

“She’s well in herself and has grown a fair bit,” Clarken said.

“I’ve got some photographs of her when we were there in the spring and she looked like a tiny little pony compared to what she looks like now.

“She’s not at the top of her game for Saturday, but ability goes a long way.”

Miracles Of Life is the $5 equal favourite with Pago Rock.

Unbeaten in four starts as a juvenile, Miracles Of Life was winless in three spring starts and her preparation came to an end when she suffered an internal bleed in the Blue Sapphire at Caulfield.

Because of that problem, Clarken said he had given the filly a long, slow build-up to her return.

Things were ramped up on Tuesday morning with a jump-out and the way the filly pulled up from the work confirmed she was on target for Saturday.

“She has had the one jump-out, and she had a couple of really good gallops leading into that,” Clarken said.

“She’s also been in work for some time. She has done miles and miles of slow work. With the little hiccup we had in the spring we didn’t want to put a whole heap of stress on her galloping.”

Corey Brown takes over from regular rider Lauren Stojakovic who is yet to get a medical clearance after being injured in a race fall earlier this year.
