Unraced two-year-old Rubick continues to attract heavy support at Sportingbet to win next month’s Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield.

The Gerald Ryan-trained colt’s odds of winning the $1m Group 1 race have tumbled from $31 into $6.50 at Sportingbet since Monday courtesy of a high-volume of significant wagers. Rubick won his first trial by seven lengths at Rosehill on Tuesday.

“We took a bet of $2,000 at $31 the day before his trial and the money has been relentless since,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

“The trainer says Rubick’s the best colt he has had since Snitzel and punters are backing him as though he will be unbeatable in the Blue Diamond,” Brown said.

Rubick is expected to make his debut at Randwick on January 25 before racing the Melbourne way for the first time in the Group 3 Sportingbet Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) on February 8.

Darley horse Earthquake remains a solid $3.70 favourite at Sportingbet.
