Black Caviar makes it 21 wins in The Goodwood

Champion mare Black Caviar has won the Group One Goodwood unextended under a calm ride from Luke Nolen at Morphettville.

The mare beat We’re Gonna Rock by a length and a half with Nolen easing her to the line after taking the lead early in the race.

Neither Nolen nor trainer Peter Moody were concerned she did not win Saturday’s race by a big margin.

“She was never out of second gear,” Nolen said.

“I’m not a punter. I don’t worry about margins.

“As long as she bloody wins I don’t care.”

Moody was happy with her performance ahead of an assault on British racing at Royal Ascot next month.

“Luke looked after her,” Moody said.

“He was kind and we’re happy where we’re at.

“No-one’s ever given us any more for winning by big spaces.

“As long as she pleases us the next three weeks we’re on the plane to England.”
