News:
Trainers Danny O’Brien and Mark Kavanagh have vowed to fight any bans handed down by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in relation to their cobalt charges.
The RAD Board will deliver its decisions in the cases against the trainers and vet Tom Brennan on Wednesday.
Both trainers have written to their owners saying they will take their fight to court, citing procedural flaws.
Brennan, the former vet for both trainers, has admitted adding a substance to IV drips given to horses in the stables last year but has denied knowing it contained high levels of cobalt.
The cases against the trainers and Brennan revolve around illegal cobalt levels detected in four horses from the O’Brien stable and one trained by Kavanagh.
Both trainers have pleaded not guilty while Brennan has pleaded guilty to all but the most serious charge of administration of cobalt to affect the performance of a horse.
Brennan has already been disqualified by Racing NSW stewards for his involvement in the case against Sydney trainer Sam Kavanagh.
