News:
Trainer Rob Anderson has scored an emotional win with Chloe’s Puppet, the first runner in his name since taking over his family’s stable following the death of his wife Trish.
Trish Anderson died on Christmas Eve after a long battle with cancer, leaving her husband in charge of their Cootamundra training base.
With a starting quote of $41, Chloe’s Puppet, who is named after the Andersons’ daughter, wasn’t given much hope in Monday’s 1200m maiden at Wagga Wagga but poked through late to grab the race by a short head.
Jockey Brad Clark has had a long association with the the family and was delighted to win the race.
“She was one of the first trainers I ever rode for,” Clark told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
“It was special to get the win.”
