Beer cans to be made in Winx’s honour

If Winx makes history and wins her fourth Cox Plate next month punters will be toasting with a brew made in her honour.

Limited edition Carlton Draught cans featuring Winx’s name and colours were launched by The Horses singer Daryl Braithwaite at Carlton Draught’s Abbotsford Brewery in Melbourne on Monday.

Emblazoned with a large white W in the same colour as Winx’s blue silks, the cans also feature her W S Cox Plate wins and a jockey riding the Carlton Draught Clydesdale.

Braithwaite, who will again perform before the running of the 2018 Ladbrokes Cox Plate, says watching Winx race at The Valley is ‘spine-tingling ‘.

Moonee Valley Racing Club chief executive Michael Browell says the beer can accolade highlights the achievements of Winx in the Cox Plate.

“The story of Winx and her remarkable career to date has captured the imagination of the nation and all eyes will be on The Valley on October 27 to see if she can achieve what has never been done before – win a fourth W S Cox Plate – cheering her on with a Winx Can in hand,” Browell said.

The cans will be released exclusively at The Valley on September 28 and available in Victorian bottle shops from mid-October.
