Paradoxium races into Magic Millions Classic 2026 favouritism with Wyong win

Bjorn Baker is confident Paradoxium can emulate the path taken by Unencumbered and O’Ole after the colt dominated the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic.

Both Unencumbered (2013) and O’Ole (2024) won the Wyong feature before going on to capture the lucrative Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast.

Paradoxium ($2.35 fav) gave every indication he can follow suit, surging clear to score by 2-3/4 lengths over Mystical ($6), with stablemate Masvingo ($5) another long neck away.

“We’re in the Magic Millions now and I’m hoping third time lucky. I have won this race twice before and they’ve gone on to win it,” Baker said.

“I think this guy is as good, if not better, than all of them. Very, very exciting.

“Masvingo was good too. She has picked up more money and hopefully we can get her there too.”

A $400,000 Extreme Choice colt purchased at this year’s Gold Coast sale, Paradoxium had finished fourth in the Breeders’ Plate and won two barrier trials leading in.

Despite pressure up front from Seeiaye, he responded strongly for Jason Collett.

“He copped some pressure early, he soaked it up and he kicked off it, which was good,” Collett said.

“I’m excited riding nice two-year-olds like him.”

Baker believes his current crop of juveniles may be the best he has trained.

“I think I have got the best bunch of two-year-olds I’ve ever had, and by a margin,” he said.

“We’re buying good horses with good pedigrees and fast horses and that’s what it’s about.”

Paradoxium now heads toward the B J McLachlan Stakes (1200m) on December 27 before the Magic Millions Classic in January.

The Magic Millions Wyong 3YO & 4YO Stakes went to The Three Hundred ($6.50), who prevailed narrowly over King Of Roseau ($2.80) and Spywire ($2.30 fav) after a tight finish marred by protests, both dismissed.
