Godolphin colt Astern will not run in the Caulfield Guineas for which he has been favourite since his Golden Rose win.
Astern was not paid up for at the latest declaration stage of the Caulfield Guineas, with 48 three-year-olds remaining in contention when second acceptances were taken on Tuesday.
An elevated temperature on Sunday ruled Astern out of travelling from Sydney for this Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas Prelude.
