News:

Solicit has the Group One Coolmore Classic firmly in her sights but her trainer Gerald Ryan has some programming headaches with a couple of her stablemates.

For different reasons, Perignon and Bachman were unable to join Solicit on Saturday at Randwick where she won the Group Two Guy Walter Stakes to confirm a tilt at the Coolmore two weeks later.

Perignon had a slight temperature in the morning and missed the chance to add the Surround Stakes to her Light Fingers win while Bachman was balloted out of the Liverpool City Cup.

“They kept the distance at 1300 metres for the Liverpool City Cup when they transferred the meeting from Warwick Farm,” Ryan said.

“They can start 18 horses over 1300 metres at Warwick Farm but with the race at Randwick they could only start 12.

“I think they should have changed it to 1200 or 1400 metres so they could have started more and he would have got a run.”

Ryan will nominate Bachman for Saturday’s Group One Canterbury Stakes which is also over 1300m at Randwick.

“There is also a 1400 metre race at Flemington we will look at,” he said.

“Perignon’s temperature is back to normal but we treated her so she won’t be able to race this week.

“The Coolmore might be tough or there is the Phar Lap Stakes also over the 1500 metres.

“Or we could wait another week and bring her back to 1200 metres in the Birthday Card.”

Ryan said Solicit had come through her all-the-way win on Saturday in great order and he was looking forward to getting her a Group One win.

The mare was formerly trained in Melbourne by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and was sent to Ryan when owner David Moodie decided to give her a change of scenery instead of sending her to stud.

She was Group One placed at three in the VRC Oaks and Vinery Stud Stakes and Ryan is keen to get that elusive elite victory before she does head to the breeding barn.
