Another family connection for Joe Pride

Joe Pride has played a major part in shaping the dynasty of prolific broodmare Parfore and is expanding his relationship to her extended family.

Group One winners Tiger Tees and Terravista and emerging star Ball Of Muscle are residents of Pride’s Warwick Farm stable while Parfore has also produced dual Singapore champion Super Easy.

Parfore’s sister Golden Sparkle has not yet got the same profile but two of her New Zealand winners, Bonete and Champagne Rein, will do their future racing under Pride who hopes to take them to bigger and better things.

“Bonete is already in the stable and Champagne Rein will be here in a week or two,” Pride said.

“Bonete is a lovely mare owned by Adam Testro who also owns Ininthree, another daughter of Parfore.

“Eric Watson races Bonete’s full brother Champagne Rein. I’ve only seen photos of him and he looks a really nice type so I’m looking forward to his arrival.

“It’s a real family affair.”

Both Bonete and Champagne Rein are by Captain Rio, the sire of Darley Classic winner Terravista.

That Group One win in November, earned Terravista equal billing with Lankan Rupee in the international ratings as the world’s best sprinters.

Ball Of Muscle, who likes Tiger Tees is by Dubawi, claimed his first stakes win on Friday when he took out the Listed Takeover Target at Gosford.

“He will have short break,” Pride said. “I’m happy for him to go to the paddock now he has that stakes win.

“Tiger Tees and Terravista are both back in work and doing very well.

“At the moment the plan remains for Terravista to go to the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington first-up and then we will look at races in Sydney for him.

“Tiger Tees is at his best on wet tracks so he will go wherever they are.”
