Anderson future looks bright with Subsolar

Promising filly Subsolar can cement trainer Chris Anderson’s association with the Dato Tan Chin Nam’s Think Big Stud if she runs well at Doomben.

Subsolar was an impressive Ipswich winner on January 20 when she beat an above-average field of maiden gallopers.

She has been scratched several times since but Anderson kept her ticking over with a barrier trial at Deagon last week.

The filly is bred to get over ground being by Think Big Stud’s sire Pendragon out of Daylami mare Garryurra.

Anderson believes Subsolar has the potential to be a top-flight galloper but knows she faces a stiff task on Saturday.

“She has shown us plenty and we have carefully managed her to date with just two runs for a second and a win,” Anderson said.

“I think we have pulled the right rein with her by not running in the past two weeks. Both times the tracks were heavy and I didn’t want to knock her around.”

Anderson has two horses for Think Big Stud and hopes to build on the relationship.

“I spent some time with Duncan Ramage and the Think Big staff at the Inglis sales last week,” he said.

“They are very professional and it would be a real boost to get more horses from them.”

Anderson said the obvious danger on Saturday was the Group One-placed I’m Belucci.

“I’m Belucci is a top-class horse but it is a big field and he will have to come from well back,” he said.

Michael Cahill will ride I’m Belucci on Saturday but trainer Desleigh Forster is yet to lock in a rider for a Sydney campaign that includes the Group One Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby.
