In the news:

Luke Nolen has escaped serious injury to his knee and will be fit to ride Moment Of Change and Plucky Belle in their Group One assignments in Perth.

Nolen was thrown from a horse in the mounting yard before the opening race at Caulfield on Saturday and was stood down from the meeting.

Concerns he might have knee ligament damage were eased after initial scans on Saturday afternoon and he was given the OK after further tests on Monday.

“There’s no dramas,” Nolen’s manager Adrian Coyne said.

“He’ll have physio on it tomorrow, ride trackwork on Wednesday and Thursday and then ride on Saturday in Perth.”

Nolen missed out on a winner at Caulfield on Saturday with Craig Newitt picking up the ride on the Peter Moody-trained Floria who took out the Group Three Summoned Stakes.

The Moody-trained Moment Of Change contests Saturday’s Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot where he will be up against Queensland star Buffering who is chasing his third-straight Group One after wins in the Manikato Stakes and VRC Sprint Classic.

Buffering is the $2.60 Winterbottom favourite ahead of local star Barakey at $4.60. Moment Of Change is part of a trio at $7 alongside Power Princess and Spirit Of Boom.

Plucky Belle booked herself a trip to Perth for the $1 million Railway Stakes (1600m) with a strong win in the Group Three Lavazza Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

Moody is chasing his first Group One win since the retirement of champion Black Caviar in April.
