The sprint feature on the card at Randwick this Saturday is the Concorde Stakes. It sees the return to racing of Hay List who has been off the scene since failing in the G1 TJ Smith back in April of this year. He’ll face nine rivals in the scamper of 1000m with Darley representative Sessions the early favourite at $2.25.

1. HAY LIST – G Schofield (2)
Multiple Group 1 winner who returns to racing off a fourteen week spell. The now 8yo has been battle niggling injuries for the past few season but he’s had three barrier trials in readiness for this return, winning the latest at Gosford over 1250m. Most would like to see him came back and produce his best he’ll need to improve substantially from his two runs earlier in the year.
2. DECISION TIME – B Shinn (5)
Resumes from a spell and first up last prep, finished well to run second to Snitzerland in the G2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Warwick Farm. Prior to that run, the Clarry Conners trained galloper had had three barrier trials but he’s only had the one in preparation for this prep. Always runs well fresh and from gate five, should get a lovely trail behind the speed.
3. MRS. ONASSIS – J Ford (10)
Winner of the G1 Oakleigh Plate when first up in the autumn but was unable to produce a similar fresh run when kicking off this prep in the Listed Sir John Monash (1100m) six weeks ago. Immediately freshened up after that run and she lines up here having had a winning barrier trial at Rosehill a little over two weeks ago. Likes to race in a forward position and will have to be at her best to overcome the widest draw.
4 SEE THE WORLD – C Reith (4)
He was a strong winner at his most recent start, an Open Handicap at Randwick (1200m) where he carried 59kgs. That win added to his listed McCarten stakes win earlier in the year and he was more than competitive behind Hot Snitzel and Rarefield in the G3 Sebring and Listed Hall Mark Stakes respectively in the same prep. He had a very quiet trail last week, will drop out the back here and be storming home late. Just concerned the 1000m might not too short.
5. DELAGO BOLT – J Bowman (7)
Back-maker from Queensland who has been close in Listed and G3 company in his home-state recently. His most recent start was a head second to Funtantes in Open company at Eagle Farm (1000m). Only missed a place once in eight attempts over this trip and will no doubt have the speed up front here that he’ll require. Look for him late.
6. I’M ALL THE TALK – B Avdulla (9)
Impressive winner of the G3 Skyline Stakes in March this year and returns now, as a 3yo, from a sixteen week spell with two smart trial wins to his name. The Stratum colt carries 57kgs here and along with some other three year’s in the race, it’s a decent weight to carry against some older and proven performers. He’ll no doubt shoot across from the wide gate but will have to fend of plenty of challengers in the last 100m
7. KUROSHIO – (1)
The winner of the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude back in February, his second win from four starts at that stage but in three subsequent runs since, the Exceed and Excel colt has been well beaten. Admittedly, two of those starts were on slow and heavy ground however, his first up run in the G3 San Domenico Stakes where he led and capitulated to run last, was a concern.
8. SESSIONS (8)
A 4yo galloper by Lonhro that who has been brought along steadily by Pete Snowden, lining up for only start number seven. Of his six starts thus far he has won four, the last two in succession. The most recent victory was in a BM 85 at Rosehill where, from the middle of the field, he let down well to score a 1 ¾ win over Agent. Big rise in class today but he does appear to have an abundance of natural ability.
9. WHITTINGTON – T Clark (6)
Gai Waterhouse will have her 3yo ready to go here after giving him three barrier trials since the middle of July. The Tale of the Cat colt won over this track and trip on debut as a 2yo, claiming the Listed Breeders Plate. Takes on the older horses for the first time and would be prepared to see what he can produce at this level.
10. GOLDEN SUNSHINE – P Robl (3)
Consistent sprinter prepared by Rick Worthington who headed to Moonee Valley for her most recent start. As she always does, she gave a good account of herself and finished third (beaten less than length) to in-form mare Broken in a Listed race. That took her career record to 8:4-1-2 and from barrier three, she’ll be placed in the run to advantage by Robl but this is clearly the smartest race she has contested to day and she may find a few too slick.
OVERVIEW
I’m All The Talk, Hay List, Wittington, Golden Sunshine and Kuroshio all capable of leading if they want to bad enough with Mrs. Onassis and Decision Time handy. He’s been a bit of a lad in the past as Sessions but noticed that Snowden has had him in work now for a while with plenty of trials – something that’s not the norm for Darley. If this approach has him concentrating, he’ll get every chance to win his first Group Race. Not underestimating Decision Time. He’s an underrated galloper capable of going very close with the anticipated run he transit he should get. I’m All The Talk is fast. He only knows the one speed and has been tuned up with to solid trials the only concern for mine is the 57kgs against older horses.
