Horse Racing Tips 14/6/2014 – Flemington racecourse

Victoria’s feature race meeting will once again return to Flemington on Saturday in which we see a decent eight card meeting including plenty of heats for the winter championships. Showers are forecast for the rest of the week so we predict a slow track for Saturday which is what we have done the form for.

Race One (12:20) : Eugene Gorman Hcp 1400m

Back Me: Callahan was impressive winning on debut at Seymour where he hit the line strongly to win on the line. Looks like he will get better each run and with the increase in distance he will be very hard to beat on Saturday.
Big Danger: Roundabout jumped as the odds on favourite on debut at Warracknabeal but let the punters down. He was then a big drifter in the betting at his second start but put in an improved run. He will improve from that run and he looks a big danger to our on top selection.
Roughie: Justaway arguably should have won on debut or at least gone quite close but didn’t get much luck. He drops slightly in weight and the increase in distance will improve his chance. He will likely shorten in bettng and i think he is a big chance at decent each way odds.

Race Two (12:55) : All Victorian Sprint Ht 1100m

Back Me: General Truce always flies first up and he finds a winnable race on Saturday. He gets a 3kg claim which puts him into the weights very well and he is such a consistent galloper you know he will give his best and his best will win this.
Big Danger: Doubtfilly has been out of the winners stall for a long time but this race is much easier than what she has been facing recently. She is well weighted and will be hard to beat in this class although she may have forgotten how to win.
Roughie: Big Buddie has won his last two starts quite impressively. He goes up in class here and this will be tougher but he comes in with winning form and will be there abouts on the line at good each way odds in a small field.

Sacred Flyer will be hard to beat at Flemington on Saturday.
Sacred Flyer will be hard to beat at Flemington on Saturday.

Race Three (13:30) : Ken Cox (bm78) 1400m

Back Me: Good Music was good last start at Flemington in what i think to be a relatively good form line heading into this race on Saturday. First up this preparation she laid in for a long way in the straight and should have finished closer the start before that i think she should have won at Caulfield and this looks a similar clain what looks to be a similar class race despite it being a Saturday city meeting.
Big Danger: Fantom Gris was heavily backed at Sandown last start but things just didn’t go right for her. Based on her runs before that and the amount of money that came for her last time out i think she must be included in a race like this and she looks the biggest danger to our on top selection.
Roughie: VIVI Veloce at her best would be winning this although she hasn’t been at her best for awhile but at the big odds i am willing to add her into my selections in case she finds her form again in which she will go very close.

Race Four (14:05) : 2014 Banjo Paterson Series Ht 2500m

Back Me: Sacred Flyer looks a good thing in this race, he is weighted very well and his last start effort was very good behind a horse who looks to be up to group class. He settled back in the field in that race and hit the line well, the Flemington track will suit and with the light weight i doubt this field will be able to hold him off late.
Big Danger: Tampere steps up in class here but he has good wet form and he is a very consistant galloper who i think at the weights will be able to match it against a field like this. The step up in distance will suit and i think he will be right in the finish at good odds.
Roughie: Mujadale led all the way last time he ran at Flemington in what was a tougher race so i think with an easy lead and a few things going his way in the run that he can produce a similar win.

Race Five (14:40) : Rod Johnson Hcp (78) 2000m

Back Me: Miss Maggiebeel put in a much improved run last time out where she went close behind Griante who i think is a very talented galloper. She meets a field who is a lot less experienced in this grade of race which could be a major factor in the the finishing stage so she looks hard to beat.
Big Danger: Medcaut has been racing in and winning some decent races in Sydney and she will make a return to Victoria in what looks to be a very winnable race. She gets a 2kg claim which brings her into the weights well and from the inside barrier she will get an easy run throughout and if she can get an easy lead she will take a ton of beating.
Roughie: Madam Gangster lost the race after the jump last time out where she got away poorly. If she can jump on terms with them on Saturday i think she will be right in the finish at great odds in betting.

Race Six (15:15) : Vrc-crv Winter Championship Ht 1400m

Back Me: General Peekay was very disappointing last start with the vet cert saying nothing was wrong but i am still happy to put a line through the run. Two starts ago he won very well at Morphettville and he looks a very talented galloper and he looks hard to beat in this class and at the weights.
Big Danger: Henwood won in dominant fashion at Flemington last start which is where he races best. He steps in class from that run but he gets into the weights well and can definitely make it back to back wins on Saturday.
Roughie: Red Corner i thought was a good thing Bendigo but things just didn’t go right for him so at the double figure price i am happy to include him in my selections for Saturday despite it being a tougher field.

Race Seven (15:50) : 2014 A.r. Creswick Series Ht 1000m

Back Me: Melrose Place did a very good job of making up the ground that she did last start at the end of last prep in what was a sprint home the final 400m. Her first up form is okay and the 1000m probably isn’t her ideal distance but in a field like this in what looks to be a good tempo i think she will be flying home late at very good odds.
Big Danger: West Africa blitzed them on debut winning by nine lengths but then let punters down being beaten as a long odds on favourite at his next start. He has been given time to mature and i think he will be tough to beat on Saturday if he can improve on his first preparation which he is likely to do.
Roughie: Il Cavallo had a big rap about him as a two year old but didn’t really live up to it. He looks to be improving at every run and his last start win showed a lot of quality and i think he will be right in this race at good each way odds.

Race Eight (16:25) : L.v. Lachal Hcp (90) 1800m

Back Me: Tax Evader was simply too good for them last start and won with ease after being heavily backed. He has been again very well placed on Saturday and finds himself in what looks to be a very winnable race and he is the horse who i think will be going onto better races during Winter from this field.
Big Danger: Ali Vital gets into the weights well with the claim. He got a lot of favours last start but he did beat a horse who i have a good opinion of in the way of Onpicalo so based on that he has to be included against a relatively weak field.
Roughie: New York was my best at Moonee Valley last weekend but conditions i don’t think suited him and i am happy to keep him in my tips for Saturday where i think he poses as a big danger to those runners who are in the market.
