Woods makes move at Ladies Masters

American golfer Cheyenne Woods has snatched the lead early in the second round of the Australian Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast.

The niece of superstar Tiger Woods has picked up four shots through 12 holes in her second round to move to eight-under par overall.

Woods is one shot clear of England’s Trish Johnson and Camilla Lennarth, who have both picked up five shots in their second rounds to be tied for second on seven-under.

The 23-year-old Woods made three birdies and one bogey on her front nine before a long eagle putt on the par-4 1st put her into a clear lead.

Johnson has made six birdies and one bogey through 14 holes while Lennarth has so far made five birdies in 13 holes.

Overnight leader Katie Burnett has picked up one shot through nine holes to be six-under and in a tie for fourth with China’s Yu Yang Zhang and South Africa’s Stacy Lee Bregman.

Rebecca Artis and amateur Minjee Lee are the highest ranked Australians with the pair both one-under for the day to be four-under overall and in a tie for 11th.

Eight-time champion Karrie Webb and young American Jessica Korda both tee off this afternoon.
