Webb in contention in women’s golf major

P – Karrie Webb can dare to dream of an eighth major championship title after climbing to a share of third place entering the final round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

It’s been seven years since the 38-year-old Australian veteran won the last of her majors in this event on the Missions Hills course in the Californian desert.

She gave herself a chance of adding to her 2000 and 2006 victories in the Kraft Nabisco by shooting a five- under par 67 third round, containing seven birdies, to soar from a tie for 21st on Saturday.

However Webb would still need a big stumble from leader Inbee Park of South Korea, who showed little sign of faltering in her bogey-free 67 as she built a three-shot lead at 12-under 204 from American Lizette Salas (69).

Webb was a further three shots back in a six-way tie with Suzann Pettersen, Angela Stanford, Jessica Korda, Karine Icher and Pornanong Phatlum.

Stanford had a 66, the best round of the tournament.
