P – Karrie Webb has eyes for a 38th career LPGA Tour victory as she enters the final round of the Kia Classic in second place.
World No.15 Webb dropped shots on her last two holes to be two shots behind leader Beatriz Recari of Spain after shooting a two-under-par 70 third round at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, California.
The 38-year-old Australian great is seeking her first LPGA Tour win since the 2011 Founders Cup.
Recari, a 25-year-old who won her lone LPGA Tour title in 2010, shot a 69 to get to 11-under 205.
She got a big boost when she drove the green on the 285-yard 16th hole to set up a four-foot eagle putt.
American Paula Creamer (71) and South Korea’s I.K. Kim were a further shot behind Webb in a tie for third.
Stacy Lewis, playing her first event since taking the No.1 spot in the world from Yani Tseng with a victory last week in Phoenix, was four strokes behind Recari after a 69.
