Trio chasing history at Ladies Masters

The unheralded trio of Cheyenne Woods, Stacy Lee Bregman and Minjee Lee are chasing the biggest wins of their career at the final round of the Australian Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast.

American Woods will tee off at Royal Pines on 12-under-par, holding a one-shot lead over Bregman with Australian amateur Lee a further shot back at 10-under.

A victory to either of the three would be the most significant in their careers with none having claimed a tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET) or US LPGA.

Woods, 23, won a stage of the minor SunWest Series in the United States in her first year as a professional in 2012 while Bregman has never claimed a professional win in her eight years on the LET.

Lee, 17, is a two-time Australian Amateur champion and also claimed the 2012 US Girls’ Junior title but finds herself in unknown territory among the leaders on the final day of a significant professional event.

Conditions at Royal Pines aren’t the best on Sunday with low clouds bringing misty showers and a stiff breeze blowing over the course.

Despite the conditions it hasn’t stopped some decent rounds among the morning’s players with former winner Yani Tseng shooting four-under after nine holes.

The former world No.1 shot four birdies and no bogeys on her opening nine holes to move to four-under for the tournament and into a tie for 12th position.

Scotland’s Pamela Pretswell has the best round so far on Sunday, shooting six-under through 13 holes but it’s only enough to lift her to one-under for the tournament and into a share of 30th position.

Young American Jessica Korda has made a bright start to her round, making eagle on the par-5 3rd to move to four-under overall and into a tie for sixth.
