The Open Championship Golf Tips, Odds and Betting – 2021 Royal St. George’s Golf Club

We are set for another golf major this week as Royal St George’s plays host to the 149th edition of The Open Championship.

The 2020 edition of the tournament was cancelled due to the pandemic and it has been almost two years since Shane Lowry took home the Claret Jug in 2019.

Jon Rahm claimed a stunning maiden major win with a fast-finishing effort at the US Open and he is a clear favourite from Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele in our The Open Championship market, while a host of big-name players are at very juicy odds.

Cameron Smith is the shortest-priced Aussie at $51, while there has also been some support for Marc Leishman at $56.

Being April and not November, we should see Augusta play much quicker this week, but just to make things more interesting, there is also a strong chance of rain forecast.

Imagine what you could be buying instead.

2021 The Open Championship Best Bet

Jon Rahm at $8.00

I normally like to take on the favourites heading into a major, but it is impossible to bet against Jon Rahm in his current vein of form.

Rahm finished fifth at The Masters and eighth at the PGA Championship before he claimed his maiden major victory at the US Open.

He followed that up with yet another top ten finish in the Scottish Open.

Rahm is in the top ten for both Greens In Regulation Percentage and Approaching The Green and his game is perfectly suited to the links conditions.

I am happy to back him at the short price on offer.

2021 The Open Championship Best Value

Collin Morikawa at $29.00

Collin Morikawa is an incredible young talent and he has already achieved a huge amount during his career.

His win in the 2020 edition of the PGA Championship was nothing short of outstanding and this year he has finished in the top ten in both the PGA Championship and the US Open.

This will be his first time at The Open Championship, but he is one of the best ball strikers on the tour and his game is very well-suited to this course.

Morikawa is second in Greens In Regulation Percentage on the USPGA Tour and no player has gained more strokes in the approach to the green.

I am confident that Morikawa will be a factor throughout this tournament and he is great value at his current quote of $29.

2021 The Open Championship Best Roughie

Corey Connors at $81.00

Corey Connors may not be in the best form, but I am confident that he is a much better chance than his current odds of $81 suggests.

Connors missed the cut at both the US Open and the Scottish Open, but his form earlier this year was excellent and he finished in the top ten in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, The Masters and the RBC Heritage.

I would not be surprised if he is the surprise packet at this tournament and the $7 available for him to finish inside the top ten is a great bet.
