Strange upstaging Scott at Aust PGA

West Australia’s Scott Strange continues to upstage Adam Scott, moving into the lead midway through the third round of the Australian PGA Championship.

Strange, who started his day ominously with a bogey on the par-four first, made his second birdie of the day on the ninth to move to one-under-par at the turn on Saturday at Royal Pines.

The 37-year-old is 10-under-par, leading the tournament by one shot from South Australia’s Wade Ormsby.

Ormsby had looked like he’d reach the turn on top of the leaderboard but bogeyed the ninth to be even for the day heading onto the back nine.

Defending champion Adam Scott also birdied the ninth to be one under for the day at the turn.

The world No.3 is tied for third with big New Zealander Michael Hendry on eight under after the Kiwi made five birdies in seven holes to rocket up the leaderboard.

Hendry is five under through 14 holes in his third round and is eight under for the tournament.

Another player making a push towards the front is Singapore’s Rory Hie, who has made three birdies in 15 holes on Saturday to move to five under overall.
