Scott promises flowers to felled fan

Adam Scott nearly knocked Jean Otter senseless but she’s not complaining.

The ‘never you mind’ how old middle aged woman from Silver Spring Maryland was minding her own business watching the US PGA Championship on the right of the seventh hole during the second round when she was munched.

Scott had lost a two iron on the strong breeze and it cannoned into Otter’s head, splitting her open and drawing blood, some of which ended up on the Australian’s ball.

Medics nearby bandaged the wound and advised a trip to hospital for stiches but not before Scott showed genuine concern and made a point of getting her name and address so he could make a proper apology.

“I just wanted to make sure she was okay,” Scott said.

“And luckily enough, there was a doctor standing right next to her who was kind of treating her until the medics got there.

“I hope she’s going to be okay. I’ll find out if she’s all right. She seemed to be okay at the time and she will be getting a big bunch of flowers from me.”

Otter only requested Scott “at least get a birdie now” but sadly despite getting a friendly bounce off her noggin he went on to make a bogey.

“It was actually a good break for me because it kicked back just in the rough,” he said.

“It was going right but it actually kicked it back and away from the treed area.”

The 32-year-old carded a three-over-par 75 on Friday in windy conditions to leave himself at one under for the tournament.
