PGA of Australia caught out on Twitter

The PGA of Australia has been criticised on Twitter during the final round of the Masters for tweeting that “we need a mistake” from Miguel Cabrera.

With Jason Day, Adam Scott and Marc Leishman all contending for a first green jacket for any Australian, the PGA of Australia tweeted: “We need a mistake from the big hitting Argentine down 13.”

A few minutes later, the ruling body for golf in Australia was criticised by a California follower: “Really? (hash)badssportsmanship.”

The PGA quickly tweeted a reply: “We shouldn’t wish bad luck for anyone and the previous tweet was bad sportsmanship Clearly let our enthusiasm get in the way.”

Cabrera hit into the creek on the 13th and later bogeyed the hole to fall out of the lead, with Day taking over.
