Perth golf event set for tight finish

Argentine youngster Emiliano Grillo will be aiming to regain his scoring touch on Sunday as he attempts to win the $2 million Perth International golf tournament at Lake Karrinyup.

Grillo took a four-shot lead into Saturday’s third round, but bogeyed four holes on the back nine to fall two shots adrift of new leader Bo van Pelt, who sits at 12-under par.

World No.10 Jason Dufner is in second place at 11-under, with 20-year-old Grillo one stroke further back and facing an almighty fight if he is to record his first win as a professional.

The world No.516 conceded he wasn’t quite sure why he played so badly on the back nine on Saturday.

But he is confident of making amends.

“I have a good chance (to win),” Grillo said.

“I’m playing in the group in front of the last tomorrow, so all of the fans are going to be with them (Dufner and van Pelt) and they are going to have the pressure.”

England’s David Howell and Spain’s Alejandro Canizares sit in equal fourth at seven-under, while defending Australian Open winner Greg Chalmers, Kiwi Michael Hendry and big-hitting Aussie Steve Jones are one stroke further back.

Grillo will tee off at 12.51pm local time (3.51pmAEDT), with Dufner and van Pelt to follow at 1pm (4pmAEDT).
