Luna says she can win Ladies Masters golf

Italian Diana Luna gives herself a great chance of winning the Australian Ladies Masters after posting her lowest score in several visits to the Royal Pines resort.

After a superb eight-under-par 64 on Friday, with coach and husband Fabio on her bag, it is difficult to argue the 30-year-old mother doesn’t have a strong case at nine-under for two rounds.

Luna has already achieved something no other golfer, male or female, has – winning a four-round professional tournament without a bogey in 72 holes.

She did that and also made 24 birdies while winning last year’s German Open at 24-under-par.

“Being the first one to do that in the history is very special to me,” she said.

“Twenty four birdies, it was a very special week.”

Luna, who had three bogeys in her first round of 71 on Thursday has played well on previous visits to the Gold Coast.

She was positive when asked if she could go on and win this time, especially with seven-time winner Karrie Webb not playing for the first time in 21 years.

“Why not? I would love to – I love this place and the people,” she said.
