Ko surges into share of LPGA second place

Defending champion Lydia Ko has powered into contention following another impressive round at the LPGA tournament in Ohio.

The New Zealander teenager’s third round was a four-under 67 to follow a 66 on Friday, leaving her in a share of third place with one round to play at the Marathon Classic in Toledo.

It represents a sizeable resurgence from the world No.2, who was 40th after opening with a 71.

Ko is two strokes behind 22nd-ranked Ha Na Jang, who has led through all three rounds and is 11-under.

A further two shots back and four off the lead is Australian, Sarah Kemp, who shot a one-under 70 in her third round.

Baek Kyu-jung is second while a third Korean, world No.1 Inbee Park, is level with Ko among five golfers on nine-under.
