Jordan Spieth heads odds to win Australian Open Golf 2016

Punters with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au believe Rod Pampling’s win in Las Vegas earlier this month was no fluke, with the 41 year old the best backed player to win the Australian Open which starts on Thursday.

Pampling is a $201 chance to back up his win on the US PGA Tour, with one punter placing as much as $100 on him to prevail at Royal Sydney.

Fellow Aussie Cameron Smith is the next most popular with punters and is on the fourth line of betting at $21.

Superstars Jordan Spieth ($4.00) and Adam Scott ($4.50) are clearly the two to beat but so far, the largest wager placed on Scott is $286 and $100 on Spieth.

World Long Driving champion Jamie Sadlowski has attracted six bets at the huge price of $751 including one stake of $20 for a potential collect of $15,020.

“Rod Pampling turned back the clock in Vegas and it seems punters have become caught up in the fairytale,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
