Jason Day supported to win British Open 2013

He may be a $34 outsider, but Jason Day has been the best backed to win the British Open by punters with online bookmaker Sportsbet.

Unsurprisingly, Adam Scott has been the next best backed at $21, while $11 favourite Tiger Woods has seen a steady flow of support.

“It’s not surprising to see some patriotic money for Day, but given he is always thereabouts at the end punters are thinking this may be the one and have jumped on at big odds of $34,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Despite Day being the best backed player overall, Adam Scott heads the betting at $2.20 to be the highest finishing Australian player followed by Day ($3.25) and Geoff Ogilvy ($11).

In good news for punters, sportsbet.com.au are paying up to six places each way for this year’s British Open!
