The Houston Open marks the final event ahead of next week’s Masters in what is shaping up to be one of the strangest tournaments in recent memory.
Memorial Park hasn’t hosted a PGA Tour event since 1963, which makes betting enormously difficult with no course history or the usual facts and figures to go on.
What this year’s event will provide, however, is a decent form guide heading into Augusta with several big names like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Adam Scott all in attendance.

Houston Open Best Bet
Sungjae Im at $29.00
Memorial Park calls for consistent ball striking and distance with the irons, so I quite like the look of Sungjae Im to take this out at a price.
The Korean hit a bit of a flat patch after winning The Honda Classic earlier in the year, but he’s since rebounded to make the cut in each of his last seven tournaments.
Im currently ranks sixth on Tour in ball striking, while it’s easy to forget he finished 11th at the TOUR Championship and 22nd at the US Open.
If he can strike a red-hot putter following three brilliant opening rounds at the ZOZO, look out.

Tony Finau at $15.00
Finau has a pretty strong track record of choking, but he does look a good bet on this unfamiliar course based on the numbers.
While Memorial has removed a good chunk of its bunkers, accuracy is still pivotal with two inches of rough surrounding most of the fairways.
Finau currently ranks T2 in greens in regulation and T4 in par-5 scoring, meaning he might just handle this unpredictable course quite well.
The American is well deserving of another win after finishing T8 at the US Open and T11 at the Zozo, so I’m keen to have something on him for a change.

Wyndham Clark at $101.00
Why not Wyndham?
The 26-year-old is coming off an outright second last week at Bermuda where he carded a beautiful final round 65 to force a playoff.
He’s still a little green, but with improvement on his side and some strong form across his last two tournaments, maybe this is the weekend he finally breaks through.
