Feng wins LPGA Championship

Shanshan Feng became the first Chinese golfer to win a major title by firing a bogey-free five-under par 67 on Sunday to capture the LPGA Championship in Pittsford, New York.

The 22-year-old from Beijing, who started playing golf at 10 and came to America as a teen before joining the LPGA Tour in 2008, took her first career LPGA triumph by finishing 72 holes at Locust Hill Country Club on six-under 282.

Fang won by two shots from a group of four that included overnight leader Eun-Hee Ji.

Australia’s Karrie Webb, who was shooting for her eighth major, started the day one shot off the lead in outright second but had an even par final round to finish the tournament in a tie for sixth at three under.
