English tyro Charley Hull has claimed a share of the clubhouse lead after her second round at the Australian Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast.
The 18-year-old tournament favourite shot a second consecutive three-under-par 70 at Royal Pines to move level with overnight leader Eun Woo Choi from South Korea.
Hull, who finished tied for 10th in the Masters last year, is six-under for the tournament after the six-birdie, three-bogey round.
The Ladies European Tour order of merit winner made three birdies on her front nine before an up-and-down back nine with three birdies and three bogeys.
Hull was taking the positive approach from that mixed bag.
“I’ve got to remember the good shots I played out there,” she said.
“I look at it as plenty of improvement left for the weekend and hopefully I can get real low.”
Choi, who started her round tied for the lead at four-under with Australia’s Su Oh, shot a two-under 71 with a birdie on her last hole putting her level with Hull.
Oh, 18, has made a poor start to her second round, dropping a shot on her first hole to move to three-under along with 2009 Masters winner Katherine Kirk, who is yet to tee off.
Hull believes whoever emerges victorious from the weekend’s event will need to shot a low score.
“Earlier in the week I was like 15 or 16 under par could win here,” she said.
“I’m still going to aim for that target.”
