World number one Tiger Woods and number two Rory McIlroy have a share of second place, three shots behind unheralded course record tying American Roberto Castro late in the opening round of The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Castro blitzed to a course-record equalling nine-under 63 to be three clear of the star duo who share second with former Masters champion Zach Johnson at six-under.

Greg Chalmers is the best of the Australians at four-under-par in a tie for 10th, while Adam Scott and Jason Day are just a shot further back in a tie for 16th.
