Brendan Jones fired a nine-under-par 62 on Sunday to win the Japanese golf tour’s season-opening Token Homemate Cup by two strokes.
Jones, who started the final round tied for sixth, three strokes off the lead, carded nine birdies – including six on the back nine – to finish at 15-under 269 for his 11th career victory in Japan.
The 37-year-old from New South Wales took the lead with his first of four straight birdies on the 14th hole and finished two strokes ahead of Ryuichi Oda, who shot a 65.
Overnight leader Shingo Katayama had a 69 to finish in a three-way tie for fourth at 11-under.
Crowd favorite Ryo Ishikawa shot an even-par 71 to finish in 10th place at seven-under.
