AP – Australian golfers Steven Bowditch and Matt Jones have claimed US PGA Tour career bests as they tied for second place in the Greenbrier Classic.
The pair shot closing two-under par rounds of 68 on Sunday to climb the leaderboard and finish tied with Americans Johnson Wagner (73) and Jimmy Walker (71), two shots behind Sweden’s Jonas Blixt (67) who won at 13-under-par 267.
The result was particularly significant for Bowditch who is in a battle to save his tour card after making only $US116,444 in 16 previous starts this season with nine missed cuts.
Jones was better placed but will still make a big jump from 78th in the season’s FedEx Cup standings.
