Aust Masters golf goes to Royal Melbourne

The Australian Masters golf tournament will be played at Royal Melbourne for the first time in November, with a continuing commitment to attract at least three of the world’s top 25 players.

Masters owners and organisers IMG announced on Wednesday the 2013 tournament will be played on Royal Melbourne’s world-famed composite course from November 14-17.

Founded in 1979, the Masters was played at Huntingdale in Melbourne until 2008 when it was switched to a rotation of leading Melbourne courses.

Last year’s event was won by Adam Scott at Kinsgton Heath.

This Masters which will again be sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and IMG confirmed it will continue to use its clout as a major international sports management company to attract a field with three of the top 25 in the world rankings.
