AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tips, Odds and Betting – 2020

The PGA Tour swings back to California on Friday as the Pebble Beach Pro-Am tees off from one of the world’s most iconic (and challenging) golf courses.

Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club will all play host to several top-class golfers, all of which are chasing the $7.8 million prize fund.

Phil Mickelson claimed his 44th Tour victory at this event last year, but he’ll need to play mistake-free this week with two of the world’s Top 10 players – Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay – both in the mix.

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one of the most exciting events on Tour, so before you place a bet, be sure to read our Pebble Beach Pro-Am tips below.

2020 PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM BEST BET

Jason Day – $23.00

Can another Australian get the job done for the third time this year? The bookies might think otherwise, but Day is still massively over the odds at this price. He’s finished top five at this event in each of the last three years and Top 10 in each of the last five. Throw in a very impressive final round 69 at Torrey Pines a fortnight ago for good measure.

2020 PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM BEST ROUGHIE

Paul Casey – $21.00

Back to back Top 10 finishes at this event make Casey a roughie worth betting on. He returns with revenge on his mind after finishing runner-up behind Mickelson last year and full of confidence on the heels of a T21 at The American Express. It’s been nearly a year since Casey won the Valspar Championship – his third win on Tour. He looks due for another victory on a course he knows well.

2020 PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM TOP 5 FINISH

Phil Mickelson – $26.00

Just like DJ, lefty returns with some strong European form just in time to defend his crown. Mickelson finished T3 in Saudi Arabia last week, a much better performance than his missed cut at the Farmers Insurance Invitational. Mickelson has won this event five times and is far and away the most successful golfer to ever play Pebble Beach. You’d be mad not to include him for a top-five finish.

2020 PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM TOP 10 FINISH

Matthew Fitzpatrick – $26.00

Casual golf fans mightn’t be familiar with Matthew Fitzpatrick, but judging by his recent results, you’re about to be. The 25-year-old has tallied five runner-up finishes over the last calendar year, including a T2 in Abu Dhabi last month. Fitzpatrick missed the cut on debut at Pebble Beach in 2019 but the world No. 25 figures to be a real dark horse this weekend.

2020 PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM FIELD

Dustin Johnson – $7.50

A two-time winner in 2009 and 2010, Johnson returns to Pebble Beach looking to make up for lost time after a brilliant first round 66 turned into a not-so memorable T45 last year. The world No. 5 battled injuries late last year but looks poised for a comeback season in 2020. Johnson finished outright second behind Graeme McDowell at last weeks Saudi International, while he wasn’t disgraced finishing T7 at the Tournament of Champions last month.

Patrick Cantlay – $13.00

Cantlay will receive his first taste of the West Coast Swing after finishing T34 in Abu Dhabi last month. His last start on Tour came at Kapalua where he finished outright fourth – his 12th finish inside the Top 15 over the last calendar year. The 27-year-old skipped this event last year but finished T35 in 2018. Cantlay’s T9 in 2013 remains his best result at Pebble Beach to date.

Brandt Snedeker – $23.00

Snedeker preceded to miss the cut at last weeks Phoenix Open after finishing T3 at Torrey Pines two weeks prior. The two-time Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner (2013, 2015) should feel pretty good about his chances though – especially after missing the cut at last years event.

Matt Kuchar – $23.00

Making his fourth consecutive start at Pebble Beach. Kuchar will be hoping to build on last weeks T16 at TPC Scottsdale where he shot 67 on day three and a final round 69. His work with the putter hasn’t been great, but Kuchar has hit 73% of fairways so far this year – seventh-best on Tour.

Branden Grace – $34.00

A T20 in 2018 and a T28 last year makes Grace one of the more familiar players on the Peninsula. His T9 at TPS Scottsdale last week was capped off by a memorable final round 69, while Grace should still be playing with confidence after winning his home South African Open last month.

Graeme McDowell – $34.00

McDowell is another player massively over the odds. The Irishman comes in having just won the Saudi International last week, and his form at Pebble Beach isn’t too shabby either. A T4 at the Sony Open in his last appearance on Tour also bodes well.

Max Homa – $51.00

Three Top 10’s since November makes Homa a name to watch moving forward. He’s also strung together back-to-back Top 10’s in his last two Tour events at the Farmers Insurance and Phoenix Open.

J.B. Holmes – $67.00

Holmes looked headed for his sixth victory on Tour last week at TPC Scottsdale before a disappointing final round 75 saw him undone. The 37-year-old still finished inside the Top 20 for the second week in a row, making Holmes a serious threat.
