Australian golfer Stuart Appleby is tied fourth and just one shot off the lead early in the opening round of the US PGA tours penultimate playoff event at Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado.
Appleby is two under through his opening nine holes to be just one behind Justin Rose, Gary Woodland and KJ Choi who share the lead at three under.
Jason Day and John Senden are the next best Australians, in a tie for eighth at one under.
