Albatross for Green at Vic Open pro-am

Experienced left-hander Richard Green has warmed up for the Victorian Open at Thirteenth Beach with an extremely rare hole-in-one at a par-four during Wednesday’s pro-am.

Green took the driver from the tee on the 15th hole and was stunned to learn he had holed out for an albatross.

Green – whose six professional wins include the 1997 Dubai Desert Classic and the 2004 Australian Masters – assumed his tee shot had remained in a greenside bunker.

But it dropped out of the bunker onto the green and then rolled into the hole.

Green is among the leading drawcards for the Victorian Open beginning on Thursday.

The men’s and women’s tournaments run concurrently at the Thirteenth Beach links course on the Bellarine peninsula.
