Adam Scott’s secret wedding

Adam Scott, known as one of the sporting world’s most desirable men, is officially off the market after marrying long-time girlfriend Marie Kojzar in secret.

The world No.2 golfer revealed the pair celebrated their nuptials with a small surprise Bahamas ceremony on April 17, the Thursday after the Masters.

There was no official engagement, instead the couple decided to just leap right into wedded bliss, surprising guests who were expecting a simple ‘Spring Soire’ at Scott’s Bahamas’ residence.

Only a few friends and family were on hand, perhaps 20 in all, most of who had been at the Masters watching Scott’s title defence.

“It’s official. I am a settled-down man and very happy,” Scott told AAP.

“We just decided to get on with it, we’ve known each other long enough, so let’s go and jump right in the deep end.

“It was just our family and a few friends and obviously there are a lot of people we would have liked to have had there who weren’t but we decided to have a very low-key affair.

“It was more about not building it up into something too big that may have gotten out of hand but it was a fun event for everyone who was there and hopefully we will have fun celebrating with other friends and family when we catch up with them.”

Scott’s parents, Phil and Pam, fresh off being in the limelight at Augusta, ended their overseas trip with a bang.

“It was a lovely occasion and a great party afterwards,” Phil said.

Kojzar, a 32-year-old architect from Sweden, who dated the 33-year-old Scott from the early 2000s until 2008 before a split of a few years, reunited with the Queenslander before he claimed the Masters in 2013.

The break-up coincided with Scott’s dip in form, which saw him drop from world No.3 to outside the top 50.

After reported romances with tennis ace Ana Ivanovic and actress Kate Hudson, Scott revealed after his Masters victory he was back together with his old flame and now has taken the relationship, and his game, to the highest level.

“When they broke up his game dropped which wasn’t the sole reason but couldn’t have helped and he’s definitely a happier man when she’s around,” good friend and fellow tour pro Geoff Ogilvy said.

According to Scott, the bride wore a ‘non-traditional’ dress while he wore a suit with bow tie.

Scott’s friends on the USPGA Tour were all kept in the dark along with everyone else but weren’t surprised when the wedding was revealed.

Ogilvy and others such as Justin Rose didn’t end up making it to what they expected was going to be a simple garden party.

“I was invited but I didn’t end up going as we didn’t know it was a wedding,” Rose admitted.

“I’ve always gotten along with Adam, we go back a long way, and the great thing is we’ve known Marie a long time.”

“I think it is fun they did it differently and Adam has always done things his own way. Apparently the night was fantastic and I think the fact it was a surprise made it incredibly special for everyone who was there.”

Scott is chasing the world No.1 ranking at the Players Championship this weekend where he needs a top-16 finish to overtake Tiger Woods.
