Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull won a third straight Formula One world title on Sunday by coming sixth in a wet season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix won by McLaren’s Jenson Button behind the safety car.
Vettel beat rival Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, who came second, by three points.
The German is the third driver to win three F1 titles in a row, joining Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher.
